About
What began as a lifelong dream became the foundation for scientific discovery.
In 2017, I traveled to the Peruvian Amazon to fulfill a childhood dream of exploring one of the world's most biologically diverse ecosystems. While there, I became fascinated by the Indigenous communities' use of medicinal plants and tree resins to promote health and treat disease.
Inspired by both this traditional knowledge and my background in biomedical engineering and physiology, I returned to Peru for additional expeditions to study ethnopharmacology with local experts, including a Curandero who provided healthcare to villages throughout the Amazon. I documented medicinal plants, traditional preparation methods, and their reported therapeutic uses while exploring how these practices could be understood through modern science.
These experiences launched years of research into Amazonian plant-derived compounds. Botanical samples collected during my expeditions were analyzed in the United States, leading to the development of a proprietary topical technology based on carefully selected natural resin compounds.
Laboratory studies demonstrated biological activity associated with inflammatory pathways, while early user experiences suggested benefits for dry, irritated, and inflamed skin. Together, these findings inspired the development of BioResyn's proprietary technology platform and the filing of patent applications in the United States and Europe.
Today, BioResyn is dedicated to bridging traditional botanical knowledge with modern biotechnology to develop innovative, science-driven solutions for skin health.

Our Founder
BioResyn was founded by Dr. Beth Zielinski-Habershaw, a biomedical engineer, educator, and researcher with more than 25 years of experience in biotechnology, physiology, and translational science. She holds both a Master's and Ph.D. in Medical Science from Brown University and has taught biotechnology and biomedical sciences at leading institutions, including Brown University, Harvard University, Northeastern University, and Johns Hopkins University.
Driven by a lifelong fascination with the natural world, Dr. Zielinski-Habershaw's research in the Peruvian Amazon inspired the creation of BioResyn. Her work bridges traditional botanical knowledge with modern biotechnology, transforming promising natural compounds into innovative, science-based skincare solutions that reflect both scientific excellence and a deep respect for nature.
